FG MUFFLES THE MEDIA: RADIO, TV BROADCASTERS WARNED TO STAY OUT OF SUBSIDY REMOVAL DISCUSSIONS ON AIR

The news about town right now is that Federal Government has warned radio and TV station presenters and hosts nationwide  to avoid discussions or mentions about the ongoing fuel subsidy protests, or such stations will be shut down.
In a similar development also, broadcasters in Lagos Nigeria have also confirmed a strict warning  by FG sent through Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation, to Radio stations and news casters not to discuss issues relating to  fuel subsidy removal on air, else they face t h e wrath of the government.
Broadcaster extraordinaire, Femi Sowoolu confirmed this on his Facebook page and this is how he put it;
 "Just received confirmation of government muffling the electronic media: "I am a Newscaster on a Radio station in the Southwest & i'm happy to inform u guys that we got an Order from N.B.C, warning us strictly not to talk about the Fuel subsidy removal or discuss the issue on air. Fellow compatriots, Naija is in Trouble o! God should do something fast." I'll reserve his name for obvious reasons and have deleted his post. Sad!

Amidst all these, what comes to mind is if we are no longer practicing the democratic system of government, that this country is known for, or who-is-fooling-who?

COMRADE MURAY LOST HIS LICENSE OF PRACTICE

    

This is definiately not the best of times for convicted  Michael Jackson’s  Doctor,  conrad Murray, who has been officially suspended from practicing medicine.

According to reports made available to this site, his license has been terminated and his privilege to write prescriptions terminated also.

    The Medical Board of California is giving Dr. Conrad Murray 15 days  to turnover his medical certificate.

MNET CALLS FOR ENTRY INTO BIG BROTHE AFRICA SEASON 7

Mnet has announced that the popular TV show , Big brother africa season will be showing starting from may 2012 . 

According to a release by the TV show organisers, it reads;

'Happy New Year! the seventh season of the continent’s attention-grabbing Big Brother Africa series will be hitting DStv screens in May! With TV commercials promoting the series’ return now screening on M-Net, entry for the new season opens in just a few short days.

As to what viewers should expect, the release reads;

KUNLE AFOLAYAN's MOVIE, FIGURIN NOW OUT ON DVD

After a successful cinema run across the world, clinching awards as well as emerging Official Selections of reputable film festivals, the most anticipated Nigerian film of all time, The Figurine (Araromire) is finally out on DVD.

The original DVD is now out and comes with almost four hours of content including the two-hour movie and additional features such as The Making and Deleted Scenes.
It’s available at retail stores all over the country, the Hub Media Store in The Palms and Silverbird Galleria and is also available on the streets.

The Figurine (Araromire) movie won five AMAA awards in 2010 including Best Picture, Best Actor in a Lead Role, Best Heart of Africa Film, Best Visual Effects and Best Cinematography. It was official selections of Rotterdam International Film Festival, New York Africa Film Festival and FESPACO. The movie got an honorary mention at the Pan African Film Festival, Los Angeles, USA.

The Figurine (Araromire) is a story of two buddies and a girl...all down on their luck have their lives changed when one of them discovers 'Araromire' a mysterious figurine in an abandoned shrine which, according to legend bestows seven years of good luck. But no one told them about the next seven years. It is a movie filled with suspense and intrigues. Until the last minute of it, the viewer never had an inkling how it was going to climax. Ramsey Nouah, Kunle Afolayan, Omoni Oboli, Funlola Aofiyebi and Tosin Sido put up the best performances of their lives as they held the viewer spellbound throughout the duration of the film. The picture quality, sound effect and editing sure set The Figurine apart from the normal Nollywood movie.

MARIAH CAREY PANICS, AS HUBBY SUFFERS KIDNEY FAILURE

 Mariah Carey's husband, Nick Cannon is reportedly suffering from slight Kidney filure.
According Mariah, who took to he Twitter page, she announced that her husband fell ill during a family vacation in Aspen Colorado yesterday and when moved to the hospital, was diagnosed of kidney failure. Mariah  Carey is presently with her hubby in the hospital and full of panic, asking all to pray for him
We wish him quick recovery.

AFTERMAT OF FIRE OUTBREAK, WEMA BANK DEPLOY NEW GENERATOR SETS

Following the sudden fire that engulfed Wema Bank headquarters in Marina Lagos yesterday, January 3, 2012, the management of the bank have taken delivery of brand new industrial generator set, to replace the old one which got burnt in the fire incidence.
Recall that the fire started from the generator house, a clear indication that probably, the generator was not in good order.  All thanks to fire fighters who struggled to put off the fire.
